The Kakioka Magnetic Observatory is strategically located in Ishioka City, in the central district of Ibaraki Prefecture. Situated 80 kilometres north of Tokyo,
it has been monitoring geomagnetic fields continuously in the same location since 1913.
Visitors can explore historic buildings such as the Main Office Building constructed in 1914, and enjoy the surrounding natural beauty.
The observatory still retains many of the old instruments that have supported its long history of electric and magnetic observations.
The Kakioka Magnetic Observatory will host the Instrument Comparison session and the Summer School.
A tour of the observatory is also planned during the workshop.
